Pastoral Care & discipleship
At Cornerstone, pastoral care and discipleship form the heartbeat of our rehabilitation journey. This ministry creates a safe sanctuary for men to encounter God daily, led by the spiritual guidance of Craig Van Tonder. Our desire is not to pressure anyone into faith but to lovingly walk alongside each man as he explores who Christ is and what it means to build life on Him.
Every gathering is designed to awaken, restore, and equip men on their walk with Christ—whether they are new to faith or have been believers for years. Together, residents learn to embrace daily devotion, practice authentic brotherhood, and grow in their understanding of biblical truth.
Our process is centered around:
• Daily discipline in devotion and worship
• Spiritual insight and reflection
• Authentic group conversation and brotherhood
• Growth in discipleship, aligned with Scripture
Daily Spiritual Journey
The daily framework of pastoral care and discipleship guides residents into a rhythm of worship, teaching, and meaningful engagement:
Craig’s role is not to preach at men but to journey with them—offering scriptural insight, real-life experience, and Spirit-filled encouragement. His mission is to help men find their true identity in Christ, not by compulsion, but through invitation and love.
Welcoming All Men
Every soul matters to God. Whether you have just begun considering faith, have recently surrendered your life to Jesus, or are still uncertain about what Christianity means—you are welcome here. New believers and seekers alike are encouraged to:
• Join in daily devotions at their own pace, without pressure to speak.
• Reflect quietly on the teaching and discussions.
• Engage as they feel led, trusting the Holy Spirit to guide their journey.
• Experience community that is grounded in grace, truth, and brotherhood.
As a part of our discipleship program, we will also be holding the Alpha course for residents - more info coming soon
